OS2 Warp Boot Screen?! Vista

#1 Post by twilleyj » Thu Feb 22, 2007 9:19 am

I just thought I'd share something interesting about my Vista install, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this...

I used the VLite.net (http://vlite.net) application to create a "slipstreamed" Vista DVD that has the latest Lenovo drivers for my T60p. I highly recommend this to people that know what they are doing.

The install went flawlessly, and all hardware devices were successfully installed! I ran some of the Lenovo apps after install, rebooted and my jaw hit the floor.

I get this as my Bootscreen (very early in the boot sequence) now:

Yep. An OS2 Warp bootscreen...on my Vista PC.

Is this a joke that the Lenovo guys are pulling?

This is not a simple .JPG transfer, but a compiled .EXE file in the System folder! Very strange.

All my tech friends ask me how I did it, but I SWEAR I did not do it!

Anyone else see this?!

I'm waiting for some Lenovo T60p's to come pre-installed to my company to see if they have the same deal....but they are still shipping us XP Pro Laptop images.

LOL, that is pretty funny and to think OS/2 Warp had a chance at one time to be something...

No vista here and never will be, but I find it hard to believe that microsoft would have any OS/2 images around even for a joke at this point. I think even IBM would have a tough time coming up with a copy of OS/2 outside of a very few people. But OS/2 lives on in eComStation. I just installed eComStation 2.0 Beta4 on my T42p and other then a couple of small bugs the install went well. Even the Intel 2200bg wireless was detected and the correct driver was installed.
