delete in the boot.ini file the reference to the system you dont want anymore, though i wount recomend it. the best is to go to msconfig/boot.ini and there change the default 30s to 3s for example

From the Start menu, right click on "Computer" and select "Properties". Then from the left side of the window, select "Advanced System Settings". Once you get the properties dialog, click the "Settings" button in the startup and recovery section (Advanced tab).

The top half of the dialog shows the default OS to start and then the time to display list of operating systems. Set this value to "0" and then click "OK" and come out. Reboot and all should be fine...

Vista doesn't use boot.ini anymore... it uses the BCD:

So,
To the contrary, how do you recover the Vista Boot manager?

I had to do a PDA recovery on a system, and I think when it did that it overwrote the boot manager, so I have a part'ed hard drive, but it appears that nothing is present on the 2nd part'.

Thanks,
John.

Boot your Vista DVD and select the recovery option.

After installing Rescue & Recovery 4.0 my N100 just remained on a blinking cursor whenever I switched it on, Vista would never load. I fixed the Master Boot Record and all was well. This article details how to fix various startup issues http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392
