Steps to do a clean XP Pro install?

#1 Post by FBTO » Tue Feb 27, 2007 11:22 am

Hello All,
I will be getting my new Lenevo anytime now. The first thing I want to do is a full clean OS install.

Does someone have the steps required to do this?
Such as:

make a recover cd first.
make sure I have all the Lenovo laptop system installs
backup blah blah and blah.
change the bios to boot off the cd/dvd
then insert your xp pro with sp2 and boot.
do the new install.
then add the following drivers and run the following setups

something like that, but with the details actually filled in.

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

BTW, I am getting a T60P WS 2.33 ghz, 2 gb ram and 100 gb 7200 hdd. (if that makes a difference)

It is a bit dated. And the folders it mentions to back up are not on my machine. Such as IBM Tools. I have the C:\drivers directory.

I have recreate the rescue/recovery disk. (Is there a difference between rescue and recovery? Or does it create the same disk for both purposes?

Is there anything else I need to back up before I blow it away?

Thanks

If you want to make your own disc, you could take a look at my guide as well...
