HELP - Vista Install wipes out WiFi

#1 Post by skuharsky » Mon Mar 05, 2007 8:13 am

Did clean install of Vista Business/Pro. There is now no WiFi connectivity. Downloaded and installed driver from Lenovo, but it did not help. Device manager does not even show the built-in wireless card. Any suggestions?

Which specific ThinkPad model and which WiFi card type are you using?

Cheers,

Model 42p

Not sure about card as it is OEM wireless. IBM post sites driver update for Vista which is named Intel Wireless LAN (802.11abg,bg). Runnning driver update .exe didn't matter as the card again isn't listed in the Device Manager and ADD Hardware auto detect finds nothing.

Go to the following page to find out which wireless adapter your T42p has: Parts lookup

I believe this is the wireless driver that you need:
Wireless LAN adapter software (ThinkPad 802.11bg, 802.11abg) for Windows Vista - ThinkPad

Be sure and follow the installation instructions.

Alternatively, you can download and install the following: ThinkVantage Access Connections for Windows Vista and wireless drivers and dependent drivers (file name 7kcna4ww.exe, file size 25,113,400).

ThinkVantage Access Connections for Windows Vista - Notebooks
