Backup site for guide to fresh install of windows?

#1 Post by AndyKH » Wed Mar 07, 2007 4:21 am

Hi

Does anyone know if there exists a backup copy of the guide posted in the sticky thread about doing a fresh install on a thinkpad with a recovery partition on the hard drive?
Having just ordered a new 7200 RPM HDD, it's really hard to know a solution exists but not being able to view it.

Thanks in advance
Andreas

Welcome to thinkpads.com!

I don't know if the original site is permanently down or not. I actually was looking at it a couple of days ago. For sites which have been around some time and which you know the URL, you can sometimes find archived versions at the "Internet Wayback Machine". Go to:

http://www.archive.org

and plug in the URL into the "Take Me Back" input box. Click the button and if the site has been catalogged, you will see dates when the site was scanned and archived.

Ray; you got any more rabbits under your hat?
That website is pretty cool!

On http://www.archive.org/ I chose Advanced search and clicked on the radio button to Show redirects, and the Fresh Install guide was all there :!: 8)

Got plenty of rabbits when the need arises... it's the hair that's starting to turn up missing :) .

I've known about the WayBack Machine for a couple of years but I keep forgetting that it's there. I had just used it last week to check on an old site that I used to own so it was fresh in my mind. If the original question came up a couple of months from now, I probably wouldn't have thought of it.

Thanks a lot!

It's really fun to follow the evolution of a internet site through the last decade even though the wayback machine often erroneously says it has scanned a site on a particular date but only shows an error when trying to view that scan.

But it worked to perfection with the fresh install guide :D

Regards
Andreas
