No Sound Capabilities

#1 Post by Quest » Mon Mar 12, 2007 12:24 am

I just installed a copy of Windows XP (SP 1) and there is no audio capabilities. None at all. What can I do? Do I need to install a driver? Where can I find one?

Thanks a bunch!

Go to lenovo.com to download the driver. If you can tell us the 7-character product number of your Thinkpad (found on the bottom of the laptop), we can give you more specific instructions.
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

I don't even have a Thinkpad. Its a generic Chinese desktop brand. I just posted here because its the only forum I know of where I might be able to get some help. And I'm planning to get a Thinkpad in the near future. Thanks for your help though. Any info on what specific driver I need?

You need to find out the manufacturer's name and the model of the card, which are usually indicated on the card itself. Go to either the manufacturer's web site or www.driverguide.com to download the driver. If you're lucky, Windows Update might be able to download and install the driver for you automatically.
