WinXP Legality question

I know that the XP discs all say DO NOT MAKE ILLEGAL COPIES OF THIS DISC!!! but, if my teacher has xp already, and has his own windows keys, would it be ok to give him a copy so he can repair his computers and laptops?

There's a little alarm going off in my head saying NO!, but I want to get a second opinion.

Yes, as long as he uses his own Windows key.

Yes, and you are allowed to use that key on only one computer. If you make a copy for your teacher, he must not use that key on his machine. He needs to use his own.

Please also read the sticky on the Windows OS thread about Windows Licensing. There is important information there. Though it does say do not make illegal copies, at least on the XP pro CD, there are tools to slipstream service packs and updated to create a new Windows CD. Basically as long as you copy for your own personal use, you should be fine.

The key number is not tied to the cd.
You need to make sure they are the same version (Home vs Pro) and the same type (OEM, Retail, etc.).
If he uses the wrong cd with his key number, the repaired install will not accept his key number.
