Thinkpad T60 Access Connections crashes all the time

#1 Post by K Moore » Sun Mar 18, 2007 8:10 pm

Hi all,

if it would only work then it would be great. Access connections installed on brand new Vista laptop. If you try and create a new profile it will crash every time. I have checked drivers for Wireless and Intel Pro and re-installed in many ways to only end up with the same issue every time.

Crashes as follows:

Faulting application ACMainGUI.exe, version 4.3.1.0, time stamp 0x45b589b1, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp 0x4549bdc9, exception code 0xc0000374, fault offset 0x000af1c9, process id 0xcb0, application start time 0x01c769b84a098767.

Same error every time, can anyone help in how I can get this to work?

Thanks in advance

Did you download and install everything listed below, and in the same order?

1. Lenovo Interface Driver - version 1.00
2. ThinkPad Power Management Driver - version 1.41
3. Hotkey features driver - version 2.00.0611
4. Wireless driver(s)
Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2200BG and 2915ABG Mini PCI adapter 9.1.0.115
Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 3945BG and 3945ABG Mini PCI adapter 10.6.0.46
ThinkPad 802.11ab, 802.11bg and 802.11abg wireless adapter 7.1.0.90
Sierra Wireless 1x Evdo WAN adapter (Verizon and Telus) 6.20.0.3
Sierra Wireless HSDPA WAN adapter (Cingular and Vodafone) 5.7.0.1245
5. ThinkVantage Access Connections - version 4.31

It is important to install in the correct order if you install the individual drivers (also listed in links on the page of the link below). I would start with a clean slate by uninstalling all of the drivers listed above. Reboot, then install: ThinkVantage Access Connections for Windows Vista and wireless drivers and dependent drivers - 7kcna4ww.exe (file size 25,113,400 Bytes). If you would rather install the drivers indiividually, be sure to do so in the correct order.

Hi,

thanks for your suggestion which I followed but ended up with the exact same error suggesting there is something extra that is causing the issue. It is also fair to say that this is an out-the-box failure as it was all pre-installed, hmmmmm. Any further suggestions would be great....

Thanks

I'm also getting this crash whenever I try to finish the creation of a new profile. It's a fresh install after a Vista upgrade (T60).

It was an issue with AC prior version 4.42. Had the same behaviour when creating new profiles.

One thing would be to uninstall AC completely with profiles and reinstall after rebooting your machine.

As I said, it's a fresh install on Vista. Thus, AC has been removed on XP (incl. all profiles), registry cleaned, upgrade to Vista, AC 4.42 installed on Vista.

It crashes on creating the first profile manually. However, I discovered a workaround. Because I didn't have any profiles it prompted me to create one. I was able to use this wizard an create a profile for my LAN connection. I could later turn that one into a "best available" and added the WLAN settings without crashing.
