Upgrading to Vista from XP with Z61t...how does it restore?

#1 Post by billp117 » Mon Mar 19, 2007 1:15 am

Will IBM/Lenovo offer a DVD that will allow Vista to have a "restore" feature. Right now, if I upgrade to Vista and want to use the restore feature, XP will be restored to my Z61t. I have already created my XP restore disks...but want to be able to retore Vista via the ThinkVantage restore software that uses the hidden restore files...or a restore DVD.

I bought a 7200 rpm 100 gb hd from Newegg.com and cloned my original hd to the new drive. Everything worked perfect and I did this in case I have a major failure with the Vista upgrade.

Does anyone have the answer or any comments for a better solution.

Thanks, Bill

I believe that if you call Lenovo and ask them to send you a Vista Rescue and Restore disc for your model it should work. It will rewrite your restore partition from XP to Vista. I believe it costs around $45 for the disc.

I know that they offer a disc if you have Vista and want to go to XP or if you had Vista went to XP and want to go back. I'm not sure what the policy is if you have XP and want to upgrade to Vista.
