Looking for a dashboard utility

#1 Post by joester » Tue Mar 20, 2007 6:58 pm

I couldn't think of a better place to ask this question than here...

I am looking for a utility program that would display HDD, Caps, and CD activity onscreen. Preferrably on the taskbar near the clock.

We have a few machines at work, and the CPU's are burried well within the machine. It's not easy by any measure to determine activity of the HDD or CD. Since they seemingly "hang" on occasion, it would be nice to see at a glance if the slowness was a result of reading or writing on the drive(s) or due to overwhelmed RAM (which is maxxed out).
Common sense to some of us is unfortunately the higher education others strive to attain.

I recommend Google Desktop 5. Its sidebar looks oddly similar to that of Windows Vista and it does had monitoring gadgets. Another option is Yahoo! Widgets (formerly known as Konfabulator). This program is more like the OS X dashboard, because you put the widgets anywhere, plus there are already 100's of widgets you can get for this program, not as many for Google Desktop.
I have finally rejoined the dark side.
