Windows Media Player 10 Questions

#1 Post by dmcgibbo » Sun Sep 26, 2004 5:23 pm

I have XP Pro SP2 and updated to Windows Media Player 10 but had a few questions...

How do I get rid of black bars showing - when a video opens there are black bars on the left and right.

When the video loads and it's 200% lets say and I press Alt-2 to change it to 100% it will resize the video but the window stays the same size which leaves tons of black border around it. I looked in the video options and I have the "resize window to fit video" option checked so what's the deal?

How can I get it to show the total time like the old Media Player did? It used to show 1:25:00/1:35:00 meaning i was 1hr25min into the movie and the total time was 1hr35min so I had 10min left. Now it only shows the playing time and I couldn't find a preference or option to change this.

Thanks!

Personally I haven't liked WMP from 7 on. I still use 6.4 although the latest are downloaded. Once you download the newest and get all of the latest codecs, the older 6.4 uses them so it is not as clunky as most may think. If you go into C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\ You'll still see 6.4 there (it is MPlayer2.exe). Try using it and you'll see what I mean! It loads faster and can play all the stuff that 7, 9, 10 can play (after these are downloaded and setup). However it does lack the interface and the music library.
