where has the £ and AltGr gone?!

#1 Post by tian » Sun Mar 25, 2007 5:55 pm

hi there!

i was just wondering how one can type the £ (pound) sign on a US keyboard layout. i'm expecting an US x60 this week and after an afternoon with my colleague's x60 i have yet to find the correct keyboard combination for this.

also what happened to the alt gr key on us keyboard too? (this is the key that is on the right of the space bar allowing input of accented letters)

i'd rather not have to resort to a) getting an replacement (£20 - note the £ sign ), b) use the on screen keyboard.

thanks,
tian

With the US International keyboard layout the right Alt key basically turns into an AltGr, and the quote keys become dead keys.

If you don't need this often, make sure both US and US-International are enabled in Control Panel > Regional Settings > Languages > Details, and you can then switch using a taskbar icon.
