Thumb Drive, a T43, Vista, and Office 2003 AND 2007

I have this flash drive, a SanDisk Cruzer 512. If I work on a document for a while on the drive and then save it in Word or Excel, it complains of a permissions error. I have to save as it to a different file name.

Any ideas? I've had this issue with both Office 2003 and Office 2007.

I have had a similar problem, and you know what, with the same exact drive. It may be drive related? I am unsure.

I got fed up with it enough and now just work on the document directly on the hard drive, and then sync it back to the Flash Drive after I am finished. I used MS's free Synctoy utility to do this, which is perfect for this purpose.

You may want to try that and see how it goes, or try with a different flash drive and see what happens.
