Problem with ThinkVantage Access Connections profile admin

#1 Post by bigbluestingray » Mon Apr 02, 2007 11:29 pm

Hi, guys!
Hope that, you can help me with ThinkVantage Access Connections administration privileges.

The problem is: all the administration options in my ThinkVantage Access Connections suddenly become disabled.

For the info: I have brand new Lenovo N100 with Win XP home. ThinkVantage Access Connections 4.23 latest from Lenovo. I'd set up a single user with administrative privileges.

I was able to create new profiles, administer existing, but now it's all some how disabled.

Please help.

You might take a look at this thread. Sounds like you have the same problem as descibed there.

Thanx. Seems the way to solve the problem is to uninstall and install AC all over. There is no simpler solution?

If your account is a administrator or you have checked the option to allow none administrators to edit and create profiles like described in that thread and it still doesn't work you might have to reinnstall AC. It could have to do with the "m_szLocAccessData" as explained as well, but i guess you have to find the correct value of "m_szLocAccessData" and make changes to your registry to be able to change your existing profiles again.

Yes there might be a more simple solution, but if no one else know how to do that i guess it would be much faster to just follow the steps explained in that thread. At least it solve the problem pretty fast and easy. If you have few profiles and easy to recreate them i guess deleting some keys using regedit and manually recreate the profiles could solve the problem as well and then hope everything is like it should. Reinstallation of AC doesn't take long though.
