How is working vista and wddm?

Guys, I posted my review of vista a lot of time ago and now this pc is working quite different. New issues:

1) With 1.5gb of ram I'm getting frequent "out of ram" messages. This ussually occur while browsing google earth or Compiling. It's just notable because task manger only shows at most 1.15gb of used ram when I reach those errors. Usually I set a custom 200mb-512mb of virtual memory. In order to stop this I've set windows managed virtual memory and it remain doing it.

2) Initially, I got 256mb of video with my Mobility Radeon 9600 (original: 64mb), it just set 64+192; some days after I can see 319mb video (64+255shared); By now it just show 575mb (64+511 shared)

I'm not player, I'm developer, I don't need a lot of video, anyways, I would be satisfied with basic vista looks and all my resources available.

Is somebody experiencing something similar?
