strange volume/brightness business going on

#1 Post by sheynk » Sat May 12, 2007 10:34 pm

I do not know if this is Vista related...

At random times my light will show itself off, the volume will mute itself, or the brightness will go to the lowest setting. At times it will just show the status (the green thinkpad native one at the bottom of the screen).

This is very random... but very annoying.....any help?

Thanks!

Similar issue here. every time the browser reloads, the brightness status appears. lol

same type of issue. the laptop will mute itself and only if it pops up all the onscreen volume/brightness/led displays (even though I have no led on this computer). Only occurred after I installed thinkpad hotkey features and after I uninstall it, the buttons stop working, but the onscreen displays are still there. Can't even figure out how to uninstall the displays. I will say that is _seems_ to happen more when I'm in firefox, but I'm in firefox a lot. I have no solution, but welcome suggestions.

I had exactly the same issues - these were solved by removing the lenovo OSD software. At the moment I am running with the bare minimum lenovo stuff until the software is more stable.
I am currently running:

- systems interface driver
- mobility centre customisation
- thinkpad modem
- power management driver
- ultranav driver and utility
- active protection system
- some of the registry updates

not sure if this will help, but might be related.

on my x60s running vista biz, after installing OSD, whenever i open a browser window it would show my volume bar. it would not mute, but just show the volume bar on screen. It was quite annoying as i usually have multiple browsers running, so each click, or alt-tab to a new browser would display the volume OSD.

i ran System Update, and remember getting Access Connections & Power Manager & Bios update. after it rebooted, random OSD was not there anymore.
