.NET Framework v1.1 Service Pack 1

#1 Post by akhavan » Fri Oct 08, 2004 7:17 am

Hi,

Some time ago I saw a post that said there was a problem with .NET Framework v1.1 Service Pack 1 and window XP.

I'm thinking of upgrading to Norton Ghost 9 which uses .NET Framework v1.1 Service Pack 1.

Anybody using .NET Framework v1.1 Service Pack 1 without problem?

Thanks

Sepehr

P.S. any comment regarding Norton Ghost 9 (At the moment I'm using Norton Ghost 2003)

I use the upgrade but don't use Ghost 9....the SP1 works without a hitch. To be honest I haven't noticed any difference at all in anything after the upgrade.

So you have no problem with .NET Framework v1.1 Service Pack 1.

I'm using Norton SystemWorks 2005 Premier which comes with Norton Ghost 9.0 (note that Ghost is really based on PowerQuest's DriveImage). I do have .Net Framework v1.1 SP1 and it's working without problems.

Haven't really used it yet since I cloned my drive with 2003 but 9.0 should be cool as you can clone without rebooting the machine while in windows.

Exactly the reason I'm thinking of upgrading.

Once you use Norton Ghost 9.0 please let me know what you think of it.

I imagine it would be the same as Drive Image 7.0 which I did successfully used to clone two HDD's on the ThinkPad while in Windows. Bill didn't have as good luck I think.

About Ghost 9, I just got it and will only use for cloning usb drives. My Ghost 2002 is a lot faster. It took G9 2 hours the other day to make a 5gb image file. The same image can be created in G2k2 in under 20 mins.

Ghost 9 is installed on my desktop which is XP Pro w/SP1 and I've never had trouble with .Net 1.1.

OK I did install .NET Framework V.1 Service Pack 1 yesterday and seems everything is in order. Thanks for feed back guys!

Dominic interesting that you say Ghost 9 works slower. I was going to upgrade because I thought it would be faster than Ghost 2003.

With my Ghost 2003 I clone my 60 GB to another 60 GB (about 17 GB data) in about 20 minutes. With your feed back I think I will pass on the upgrade for now.

Thanks

I've only just installed and started using it last week. But in mho it is slower doing it through Windows then through DOS.

I've been busy with soccer, home remodeling, repairing my tractor and working on other peoples pcs, so I've yet to run a it through a good time trial yet. Hopefully I get around to it within a few days.
