Enabling touch causes pen problems in Vista

I have an X60T with multitouch and Vista Business. When I enable multitouch and check the "Use your finger an input device" box under the Touch tab of Pen and Input Devices I begin to experience problems with using the pen. When touch in enabled, I cannot click and drag with the digitizer pen or even write (which requires moving the pen while in contact with the screen).

Based on the fact that I can still ink if I press VERY lightly, I think the touch sensor is detecting the pressure of the pen and causing the pen to stop inking when I press harder. My gut tells me that the tablet isn't ignoring touch input when the pen is being used, which is a critical feature of the tablet.

Is this a driver issue or what? How can I enable touch and preserve my ability to use the pen to write and click/drag?
