Vista Ratings: T42, 80G 7200RPM Hitachi, ATI9600, 2G ram
I upgraded my T42 (1.7GHz, 2G ram, 80G 7200 HD, ATI 9600 64MB video) to 2G memory and hoped to see a bump in my Vista rating.
Processor 3.6
Memory 4.1
Graphics 2.0
Gaming 3.5
Hard Disk 4.7

It didn't seem to happen. I'm pleased with the operation so it doesn't really matter, but if there are easy ways to raise that GRAPHICS: Desktop Performance score (short of canning Aero) I'd like to know about them.
Thanks,
Silo

silo, go to this ATI's site http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/vist ... sta32.html and download the last version of Catalyst (version 7.4 by now) and you'll get some features and 3.5 in gaming score.
Mine looks like yours with 3.7 in processor and 3.5 in graphics.
Cheers.

Well, I tried this. Went there, DL'd the file, ran it, said Catalyst, installed, and . . . nothing happened. My PC DOC says I've got driver 7.14.10.830 dated 8/21/06. That isn't 7.4.Melvyn wrote:silo, go to this ATI's site http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/vist ... sta32.html and download the last version of Catalyst (version 7.4 by now) and you'll get some features and 3.5 in gaming score.

In addition, my Vid BIOS is BK-ATI Ver 008.011.004.014
And I've got no ATI panel or program to run. Something tells me I made a mistake somewhere along the way.
Also, what about the "Modder" that someone said had to be used to set the ATI drivers for use in notebook/T42?
Hep! Hep!
