Rescue & Recovery 4.0 fails to restore single file

Hi,
I have been using Rescue and Recovery software to backup my thinkpad T42p during last 18 months (from version 2.0 up v. 4.0).
Last backups has been made with version 4.00.0114.00 on a network drive.
The problem raises when I try to restore a single file (either in the original path or in a new directory) the file is created with the size of 0 byte and the original date. No error message is displayed, indeed a message box displays "one file as been restored". The log cougth some messages but only warning.

I got the same behaviour when I boot from the boot disk R&R produced.

Can anybody pls help me in recovering my files ?
I guess they are stored on the backups ?

R&R 4 doesn't support the T42p.
I tried it on my T42 and it made the backups but then couldn't do the R&R. Then I found I couldn't roll back to R&R 3.1, and had to rebuild my whole system, which now has R&R 3.1. I posted a warning in the T4x forum: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... ght=indeed

I can't believe that an IBM product that runs fine even on third part PC is not supported on T42. On the other hand, as you stated, previous versions run perfectly ... why lenovo do not fix the problem ?

Now my question is roll back to version 3.1 or change backup system ? I read many posts on this forum about this topic, actually I had no problem with hidden partition (old system with 4.5 Gb), and I was happy with incremental backups provided bay R&R instead of full image ...
any suggestion ?

As I posted elsewhere, I've got RnR V4.0 installed on my T30 and it works without a hitch. The T30 is not listed as supported but that's only because they never tested it with old hardware.

I take (very) regular backups to a USB enclosure and have tested both single file restores and a full system restore. Both worked correctly.

Whether it's siginificant or not I don't know but I do not have the hidden partition on my machine.
