#1 Post by ibmuser » Sun May 23, 2004 11:28 pm

under folder options, view, I've unclicked 'use simple file sharing', but each time I check the setting it seems to be checked. why would this be?

What OS are you using? If it is Windows NT/2K/XP, are you an Administrator?

Are you networked?

The answers to these questions may help explain what is happening.

Hope this helps.

follow up

I'm using XP pro on a thinkpad x31. I have a wireless mini pc (a/b/g). I have two accounts - one for admin uses and one that is limited. Under the admin, the setting is fine ('use simple file sharing' is unchecked) but when I try to set this under the limited account, it reverts to checking the box for some reason.

I don't think it matters. I see the same thing for "Power User" as for "Restricted User". Seems to me that if the admin turns off simple file sharing that you should not encounter any problems. ... jdhurst
