Network doesn't work after hibernate/sleep

#1 Post by ckwbff » Tue May 29, 2007 11:38 pm

As the title states, whenever I go into hibernation or sleep mode then come back my internet doesn't work. I have to disable then re-enable my network card otherwise I just have local access only.

I have, on occasion, the same problem, but it's intermittent. It seems to have gone away after I uninstalled EMC9.

Easy Media Creator. I bought it retail and it caused all sorts of problems.

If you don't recognize, you probably don't have it, as it's not something that comes installed on factory TPs.

I always disconnect prior to standby, and generally have no problems that way. I have experimented with standing by while connected and it usually fails. I just have to re-connect though, not disable/enable the NIC. ... JDH

I have exactly the same problem as the original poster (using a T43 with Broadcom Xtreme Ethernet). Vista seems to disable the ethernet card every time it goes to sleep and forgets to re-enable it again when it wakes up, although it *thinks* that it is connected and only has Local Access. I have to use Access Connections to Disconnect, then re-connect, at which points AC pops up a message saying the card is disabled, would I like to enable it. After enabling everything works fine. This doesn't affect wireless (for me), only ethernet. Did anyone find a solution?

A static ip address may provide a work around for the problem.

This is the problem. Set the power schemes to maximum performance for the wireless adapters as described here:
