The following may work for you...go to:
Display Properties
Settings
Advanced
Monitor
and increase the screen refresh rate. From what I read in posts here, this setting has no impact on the LCD monitor, but it does increase the track point sensitivity. I set it at 85 and am happy with that.

IBM Thinkpad T42p - 2373HVU | 1.80 GHz - 400 MHz - 2 MB | 1.5 GB RAM | 15" 1600x1200 | FireGL T2 | 60GB - 7200 |
Is there a check in the box for "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display"? If so, uncheck the box and you should see some additional refresh rates. Again, this should only be done for the LCD screen. Not recommended for CRTs.ennma wrote:I cannot increase the refresh rate of my screen, should I be?

There are two places where you control trackpoint speed:
Control Panel -> Mouse -> Pointer Options -> Select Pointer Speed
Control Panel -> Mouse -> Ultranav -> Trackpoint -> Sensitivity
Mine is set exactly at the middle at "pointer speed" (enhance precision is turned ON), and two bars below max at "sensitivity".
If you maxed both out and it stills feels sluggish, then either your trackpoint is defective, or you just don't know how to use it right.

You might try going directly to the Synaptics website and downloading the latest drivers directly from there. I've had excellent results from my trackpoint and touchpad using Synaptics drivers.
