Help! External USB devices cannot find drivers in Vista

#1 Post by bonabest » Wed Jun 27, 2007 2:18 pm

Hi guys, I need help here

I started using Vista Ultimate from late Feb. and everything seems OK, but from last month, all the new external USB devices, like USB key, USB HDD, cannot work in vista. when I plug them in, vista said drivers needed and found nothing either in my system or online. I believe it's a new problem because I used to use some others' USB devices and worked fine then.

anybody has same problem, and anyone can help?

thanks~

I haven't had this problem; but have you tried uninstalling all the usb entries in device manager and then rebooting allowing the drivers for the usb controllers and hubs to reinstall?

Microsoft has a patch out for that. I don't recall its number but a search on their knowledgebase should turn it up.

Here is a list of Microsoft hotfixes regarding USB for Vista. I am not sure any apply to your situation or not.
