ATI error

#1 Post by cpascu01 » Mon Jul 02, 2007 12:22 pm

Hey everyone,
I wasn't really sure if this belonged here, but recently I've been getting the error...

"You do not have permission to change catalyst control center settings. Please contact your administrator for further help."

Even when I log into my Administrator account I get this message. Anyone have any ideas why this keeps coming up?

It shouldn't really come up... but, try uninstalling Catalyst and then re-installing but start the install routine by right-clicking on it and select 'Run as Administrator'. By default Vista does not run executables with Administrator privileges even when you're logged on with Admin rights. This has to do with the whole new UAC thing. It's a good idea to always install programs this way, unless you are planning to turn UAC off.

it got really annoying so I just used windows defender to block the process from starting up.
