Question about back up Vista restore on Thinkpad

#1 Post by makaveli559m » Wed Jul 04, 2007 12:51 pm

I want to install a clean install of Vista, if I do that can I still restore Vista from the back partition? With the ThinkVintage button?

First off you should make a set of recovery media.

Yes you can install vista from dvd just as every os but i will break the lenovo boot sector which is needed for accessing the recovery console. There is a boot sector repair diskette to restore the default lenovo one. Just search in the forum.

I would advise you not to do a clean install. If you are interested in a clean Vista install without all preload software you can safely do it with the base software administrator program http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... ADMIN#TBSA
