Vista and NHC or similar

Hi

I was wondering if someone found out if NHC or similar were better than Vista's PM in terms of battery life, temperature and noise management ?

I am not using any of these right now and my T60 is quite fine (no noise mainly) but may be by applying one of those I could enhance my battery life ?
and also would they allow me to shutdown the fans of my dock station (very bothering)?
