Vista and NCH woes

#1 Post by Temetka » Sat Jul 21, 2007 2:22 am

Okay here we go again.

Windows defender is blocking nhc from running when I log on. I cannot enable Defender to unblock it. I can disable or remove but I cannot enable NHC to run every time.

I have done some research and basically anything that runs at startup and requires elevated privileges is blocked by default at startup. There have been some ideas such as creating a scheduled service to run it or disable UAC (which is unknown if it will solve the problem). I could also try removing windows defender, although I would prefer to leave it in.

Has anyone found a way to get HNC to run at startup in Vista without having to tell windows defender each and every time to run the program anyway?

Thanks.

i'm waiting for this to be fixed also, you can either disable uac entirely or set an option in gpedit.msc which automatically elevates admin requests.

..at least till its fixed in a newer version.

It shouldn;t have to be that hard. How does Lenovoa do it with the power manager software? It does roughly the same thing:

watch battery info
speed up / slow down cpu
place battery icon next to system tray

Why doesn't their software exhibit the same behavior?
