USB2: External O.S ?

#1 Post by dd » Thu Oct 21, 2004 3:05 pm

Was wondering

Is it possible to run an O.S off a External connected via USB, with the original drive taken out of the thinkpad? Does the external drive need to be set as Slave?

Don't quote me as I have not done it but it would seem possible if your bios lists the usb port as part of the boot sequence.

You're welcome.

My hands are tied with the lack of details. But if you take the time to provide 'em, do realize that I may not be able to help after all.

Well thank you sir, you're a gentlemen and a scholar.

Had a look at the link and see it's been resolved, great!

By the way, I would not have know of the flier either, I wiped the HDD clean and installed an OE version of XP Pro over the preloaded 98SE soon after purchasing this X20. Never used the recovery CD.
