On-Screen display problem

System: Clean installed vista business using upgrade media
Machine: ThinkPad T60 2007GDU

Everything is fine except:
1 ThinkVantage button no longer functions
2 Volume button works but no on-screen display so i could not tell what volumn is. as well as the brightness of the screen.

I have more or less expected this, but still wish there's a method to fix this?

Can anyone help? Thanks.
