I just purchased the Vista Ultimate Upgrade dvd for a Mobile Core 2 Duo MiniPC I built (Socket P, T7300, 2Ghz, 4MB, Santa Rosa).
I'm interested in trying out Vista 64bit, but if I activate the install and at a later date decide I want to drop back down to 32bit, will I have any problems with regards to licensing?
For example, if I install Ultimate 64bit, does Microsoft convert the key to a 64bit type upon activation? Or does activation not even matter with regards to what type of Ultimate you installed?
I'm pretty sure that the Vista Ultimate key is good for both 32bit & 64bit installs, I'm just wondering if the key gets "locked" into either 32bit or 64bit when you activate it (so you can't change to the other at a later date).
Vista Ultimate Upgrade 64bit or 32bit use same cd key?

You could always NOT enter a CD-key during setup. This will grant you 30 days to test the config.
That or you could just call Microsoft and tell them that you are testing 64 / 32 and want to switch.
I did this with my retail copy of Vista Ultimate Upgrade and the nice indian guy on the phone gave the activation code I needed.
If for some reason the guy wont give you a code, hang up and call back. Chances are the next person will activate you.
