For programs on my system, I use three partitions. C partition is for Microsoft, IBM and any ‘rude’ program that has no option to install elsewhere. D partition is for all other small programs. E partition is for large programs that do not have volatile storage requirements, as dictionary and encyclopedia software.
I backup the C and D partitions with Rescue and Recovery and do not worry about the E partition. Does anyone know precisely how the Rescue and Recovery Rejuvenate function works?
I ran it once a few years ago and as I remember I had re-install the programs on the E partition and some on the D. I have run the beginning of the Rejuvenate function to generate the list of programs that have to be re-installed. That list was very small five were drivers and one was a program update which is on the D partition. However 30 plus programs have been installed since the restore date.
Does this mean that only the six have to be re-installed? Since Rejuvenate takes an incremental backup, it has the information to leave all programs (and there Registry entries) in place. Yet the purpose of Rejuvenate is to refresh the system to a previous point in time.
Has anyone had experience with multiple partitions and what it will do?
Thanks
Ray

The Rejuvenate feature of Rescue and Restore is meant to restore the
current contents of your hard disk to be in a more orderly state.
When I was still using the original 40 Gb hard disk on my G41 ThinkPad,
sometimes the free space would creep below 15% and I couldn't defrag it.
Rejuvenating it would result in 18% or greater free space.
I can't comment on how it handles more than the one C:/ partition I have.
