Thank goodness for Acronis!

#1 Post by mrbjr » Tue Aug 28, 2007 1:07 pm

Got a rather cryptic error code (8007371200) couple of days ago. Could not use Windows Update, and after a bit of searching for the fix and not finding one that would get me out the deep stuff, I finally got to use Acronis True Image.. All I can say is "WOW", I have had one version or another and recently upgraded to 10 to work with Vista. Long story short, first time I actually needed it and it works as advertised. I had system restore disabled in case some would wonder why I just did not go back. Bottom line is, as always backup and often. :D
T41p-GEU / T42p-KXU bought from Bill/ T60p-8HU / 4 T400p's and now a T440p

Yep....THE gold standard for disaster recovery, bar none. I also use their Disk Director for partitioning and disk fixing after messing with Linux or something and ending up with a goofy drive. Disk Director is another one worth a million to me.

Over the years I've had just 2 failures to recover an Acronis image (corrupted in some way) and by using their Verify mode, I got the bad images to work after all. Now, -that's- good software! This is out of a couple hundred times I've restored am image to a machine...so that's less than a 1% failure rate, I estimate.

I said "bye-bye" to Rescue & Recovery and System Restore years ago!
