why my available HDD under Vista is decreasing

I can see in my C drive, the available space is daily decreasing. I haven't done any download or partition in my R61. I know it might be due to the shadow copies. But why it is decreasing by GB. My whole HDD should be 120GB but in C drive it says 100Gb with %% available. How can I delete the shadow copies and turn it off?

This might help in freeing up some space:

1. Open My Computer > Right Click on your HDD > Properties > Disk Cleanup > Files from all users > Check every single option in disk cleanup including Hibernation files, if there are any. Do not click Ok yet. Go to "More Options" and click "Clean Up" under "System restore and Shadow copies". Your HDD light would blink for a while depending on how many shadows Vista had been saving. When it disappears, click OK then delete files.

2. Start > All Program > ThinkVantage > Rescue and Recovery > View all backups.

It should show you how much space your backup files are consuming. If you like to delete a backup you can do it via:

Rescue and Recovery > Advanced > Delate Back ups.

3. Install CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ , their website would tell you instructions on how-to use it.

I believe the best way is to limit how much your shadow drive consumes.

When I first received my laptop, I realized my memory shrinking till there's less than 1 GB left. After asking around, I found that my shadow drive space was "Unbounded" at first. So I followed the easy procedures to limit my shadow drive to 2GB. After I was down, more than half my memory cleared up. Hope this helps.
