Request Win XP disks from Lenovo or use RandR?

#1 Post by bill333 » Fri Sep 07, 2007 9:52 am

Just got my T61. Before doing disk partioning I want to have XP disks ready, just in case. Has anyone ordered XP disks from Lenovo, or are people relying on Rescue and Recovery?

Whichever way you do it, get a smallish, inexpensive hard drive and test the CD's. They fail (been there, done that), so KNOW they work before you put them away and before you need them. So long as you test, creating your own recovery CD's is just fine.

You can make the same disks that you'd get from Lenovo using the Rescue and recovery, create recovery discs utility. Test them before you need to reply on them.

Product Recovery disks from lenovo costs $45 +applicable taxes. However you can create one on your own by going to:

Start > All Programs > Thinkvantage > Create Recovery Media.

Please keep in mind DVD-RAM is not supported for the 1st start up recovery disk. Additionally you can read an article with more info. about this process here.
