Overzealous Presentation Director

#1 Post by Goetterdaemmerung » Thu Sep 13, 2007 5:20 pm

The title is a small misnomer, as this happens even when the presentation director is not installed. I have an X40.

When the Presentation Director is not installed, pressing Fn+F7 cycles through a few display mode, with each display mode showing some green on-screen-display icons at the bottom of the screen.

As soon as I open the lid of my laptop, it switches the resolution to 640x480, and the green on-screen display in the bottom center of the screen indicates "LCD and external display active". (Since the lid was closed, for all I know it changed to this state when the lid *closed*, not when it opened).

If the Presentation Director is not installed, I can press Fn+F7 to cycle back to "LCD only", and the resolution returns to 1024x768. If the Presentation Director is installed, I press Fn+F7 and choose the correct scheme to restore my resolution.

I've tried using Software Installer/System Update to uninstall, update, or reinstall the on-screen display driver, and the presentation director. No combination makes any difference in this annoying behavior. The green OSD icons still display after opening my lid, even if I remove the on-screen display driver.

It's extremely frustrating that I need to reset my screen resolution each time I open the lid. Any ideas?
