T61 w/ Vista Business crashes after screen flickers
I have a T61 (646066U) running Vista Business with a 128MB nVidia Quadro 140M and an extra GB of system RAM (2GB total). The problem is the screen will get diagonal lines, start to flicker with lots of ghosting, and then it will either freeze (requiring a hard reboot), or it will get all that then the screen goes black. Shorty after it goes black the computer will reboot. During this whole black screen, the hard drive light is lit almost solid. There have been a few times where an error message appears pertaining to the video driver. I have even upgraded to ForceWear 163.67 beta drivers from nVidia with no change in results. I have run the computer through PC Doctor with a passing grade. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have tried searching for a similar problem, but I haven't been able to find anything.

Please update your BIOS (a newer one was released today), use lenovo provide GPU drivers or even using the ones from Microsoft will do the job:
Drivers and software - ThinkPad T61, T61p
If you figure out the problem is hardware related then give IBM support a call at 1-800-565-3344 (24/7)!, you will be connected to Montreal help desk technical department.

Thanks, I have updated my BIOS to the latest release. I'll keep an eye on it to see if it makes a difference. I haven't gone back to lenovo or Microsoft GPU drivers yet, but I will if it is still crashing.ryengineer wrote:Please update your BIOS (a newer one was released today), use lenovo provide GPU drivers or even using the ones from Microsoft will do the job:
