Q. What if I don't activate my Vista Home Premium within 30 days?

A. Then you're deactivated!

If it's like the beta versions, once the 30 days has elapsed, all you can do is activate. Vista won't give you access to anything else.

Well technically it's still possible to do things as you can read about here. It may not be obvious but it's possible.

A. Is activation required?

Yes, Microsoft Software License Terms allow you to use Windows without activating for a 30 day grace period. After the grace period expires, Windows will provide only limited functionality until you activate.

B. What happens if I don't activate Windows?

If you don't activate Windows within 30 days after installation, Windows can only be used in Reduced Functionality mode. Reduced Functionality mode allows you to use Windows for one hour at a time for limited troubleshooting. You can regain full use of your computer by activating your copy of Windows.
