Win XP Bootsplash Freeze

#1 Post by Superego » Thu Oct 04, 2007 8:03 am

So I've had this problem a few times and I'm not quite sure what is causing it (as I've not been able to replicate it consistently), so here I am trying to find a definitive cause and solution. Here's the issue: I have an advanced dock and sometimes after undocking without shutting down, my T60p (2623-DDU) will freeze and I need to restart. After selecting Windows XP in my GRUB menu the Win XP bootsplash screen will fade in part way and suddenly freeze. Restarting does not help. Sometimes immediately after the GRUB menu I get the screen asking if I want to boot normally, in safe mode, in safe w/networking, last known configuration, etc. None of these options fix the freezing bootsplash. I should also note that the same problem sometimes occurs if I shut down my TP and then undock.

As I said, I haven't been able to consistently replicate this problem (sometimes I hot undock and everything is fine), but am I right to assume it has something to do with hardware profiles? If anyone has experienced the same problem I'd appreciate some insight. Thanks.
