what's T61 Thinkpad software installation order?
what's T61 Thinkpad software installation order?
I have been trying to do clean install with my retail ultimate 64. However, the thinkpad software installation got messed up. Anyone got a guide to install them on the correct order?
Thanks

are you missing drivers or is something messed up? i ran system update (rather than software installer) and everything except the WUSB driver installed as advertised. i opted out of a lot of the extras like CSS, access connections, R&R, presentation director, etc. to keep things faster and (hopefully) more reliable. my clean ultimate 64 installation has been running great for three weeks solid (which isn't bad since that's about as long as i've had my T61p).

I don't think there is any hard and fast rule on installing drivers in a specific order. But it would be wrong to say they aren't connected to each other.

Either it's Thinkpads or any other PC i'm always installing in this order:
1. Chipset Driver
2. Video Driver
3. Any other Hardware Driver
And remember that a lot of Thinkvantage Utilities depend on each other. So remember to install at least the Power Management Driver and Lenovo System Interface Driver.
But the best bet is to use Software Update.

T60 (200763G), 2GB RAM, 7200 rpm 100 GB HDD, UltraBay 7200 rpm 100 GB HDD, DVD-Burner, Windows Vista Ultimate, Advanced Dock at Work, Advanced Mini Dock at Home
i mess the driver up and it doesn't work well (some Fn button doesn't work) . I believe it has to install in a certain order.ryengineer wrote:I don't think there is any hard and fast rule on installing drivers in a specific order. But it would be wrong to say they aren't connected to each other.

Specifically which Fn keys don`t work?cs120ban wrote:i mess the driver up and it doesn't work well (some Fn button doesn't work) . I believe it has to install in a certain order.
Presentation Director (a utility not a driver) is known for breaking few Fn keys if lenovo system interface and display drivers are installed afterwards (topping). Since you didn`t mention ``which combination(s)`` so I`ve assumed the above:
Presentation Director broken, Fn-F7 switching
What happened to my Fn-F7
LCD will not turn off when pressing Fn and F3 in Windows Vista - ThinkPad
Four things make Fn keys successfully work and function properly on ``Think`` machines with Vista:
1. Lenovo System Interface driver.
2. ACPI Power Management.
3. Display driver.
4. Hotekey utility.
