HELP! IE keeps crashing (googletoolbar or Acrobat related?)

#1 Post by dmcgibbo » Fri Nov 05, 2004 11:29 pm

When using IE or when closing the last IE window, a message pops up saying that while using the google browser helper object an error ocurred. the toolbar is always "being used" so i don't know if it is actually causing the problem b/c after i click close, adobe acrobat errors come up which are probably the culprit. anyone have any ideas? thanks!

Internet Explorer has encountered a problem with an add-on and needs to close.

Try uninstalling Acrobat Reader first and see if it solves the problem. If not, then do the same for the google bar. Between uninstall and re-install, run scandisc (If XP or W2K, you'll have to go into "properties" of your "C" drive and select tools on the upper tab...the scandisc actually occurs during the next boot-up). When I say scandisc, I mean "error checking" in W2K and XP.

My logic is that somewhere on your hard drive there is a bad sector, or sectors...exactly where the program or programs you mention is/are trying to store information. By uninstalling and running scandisc, windows will either fixing this/these disc errors or choose to not use that part of your hard drive anymore. This should eliminate your problems when you reinstall the software. :)

Good luck!

It's the Google bar that causes it. I have the same problem and I'm about to reinstall it.
