Java Performance Observations

#1 Post by p0ser » Tue Nov 09, 2004 5:15 am

I have a 2.0 GHZ / 1gig RAM and the performance of javaw.exe is terrible - it can really drag this machine down - even with nothing else running...

Yep, welcome to the JAVA programming language. IBM uses it in all its web applications and they are terrible. JAVA is practical, portable, has a lot of functionality but by no means is it fast.

Yeah, VNC is all but unusable on the [censored] ThinkPad. Is there a way to return to the Java or whatever it is that Windows regularly uses?

I uninstalled the original Java stuff after installing the latest Sun Java Development Kit and all the IBM utilities continued to work as before (and not noticeably faster).
