Easy Windows XP/SP2 Slipstreaming

#1 Post by RealBlackStuff » Tue Oct 30, 2007 2:27 pm

Simple Slipstreaming Windows XP with SP2.

You will need:
- A full XP Home or XP Pro CD (not an Upgrade or Restore CD!).
- Either the MS XP-SP2 CD or download SP2 from their website (260MB): http://tinyurl.com/6ceaw and rename that file xpsp2.exe
- The Autostreamer program from here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Syst ... amer.shtml
- A burning program that can burn CDs from an ISO file.

Process:
Install Autostreamer on your PC/Laptop.
If you have the SP2 CD, copy the file xpsp2.exe from the CD onto your hard disk.
Pop in your Windows XP CD (stop it if it auto-starts).
Run Autostreamer and select "I want to use my original Windows XP CD".
Your XP should already be identified, so click on the magnifying glass icon next to Service Pack file box and
browse to the SP2 file on your hard disk.
Autostreamer will take a minute to recognize that SP2 file, so wait until it's done and then click Next.
You will be prompted about where to put the resulting ISO image (which will be about 550MB) on your hard disk.
Give that ISO file a name, e.g. xp_home_sp2.iso or xp_pro_sp2.iso.
Click Finish and Autostreamer will do the rest.
Now burn your new XP-SP2 CD from that ISO file.

You could also follow the instructions from here: http://www.simplyguides.net/guides/usin ... amer.shtml

I want to thank you for posting this...I have been struggling trying to create a xp2 disk. ..primarily due to creating the "boot image" and your instructions were right on!

Or you can use this great little program if you want to get more advanced unattended instalation, or just tweak normal installation:
