Laptop with no OS

I am in a position to purchase a T42 in excellent condition, but it has no OS. What are my options in getting XP loaded on this thing. Do I need to outright purchase a copy of XP?
I have some recovery disks for my T40 but have never used them, will these work.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The T40 R&R Discs should work in a T42.

The T40 discs should work. After you install XP, don't forget to update windows to SP2.

fkelly, Is the T42 still under warranty? If so you can phone support and tell them you can't recover after a hard drive crash and they'll send you the product recovery disks.

Not sure, it is the 2378 model. I have not taken possession of the T42 yet, so not sure about the warranty status.

Thanks for that tip, once gotten, I will definitely check on that.
