System Update

#1 Post by kengeo » Fri Nov 09, 2007 5:42 am

I have just 'clean' reinstalled XP Pro' on my T21 & used System Update to download & install the Thinkpad Utilities, it scanned & showed 7 updates, which it then installed, but they did not include the Battery Miser. Is this normal? I also found that System Update would not install until I installed 'NetFramework 2' which was very frustrating until I found the answer. Can I get the 'Battery Miser' utility from IBM/Lenovo? I had a quick look on their site but it didn't seem very 'user-friendly'

In my experience it is normal for 'System Update 3' not to install the 'Battery Maximizer' program for you.

I won't comment on System Update other than to say that I don't use it. You can get all the available drivers and software from the following webpage - except a few commercial applications such as WinDVD. There are even more if you click on the appropriate link in the line that says: "View all files for the ThinkPad T20 and T21 systems.", under Notes. Be sure and follow the installation instructions for each download to have a successful install.

Thanks GomJabbar, I followed your link & all was revealed!! I shall download all the necessary drivers and save them, in case I need to re-install in the future. Your prompt reply has been a great help.
Cheers.
