Outlook 2003 Junkmail Update KB873362

#1 Post by Sleep Machine » Sat Nov 13, 2004 11:20 am

This update was released on November 10, 2004. I use Outlook 2003 as my primary email program, and try to keep it updated. I tried to use the automatic update, download, and install and it was unsuccessful with no further explanation. I then tried downloading the file [office2003-kb873362-fullfile-enu.exe] and tried to run it. That was also unsuccessful because the error message said that the downloaded file was not a valid Win32 application (executable) file. Any ideas (other than dumping Outlook all together)? :?:

I had a similar problem. I opened Outlook, and ran "detect and repair" under Help. I then re-ran the Office updates, and the program took them. I hope this is a solution for you as well. Good luck.

If Outlook was installed via Office (or perhaps as a standalone) you could also do a repair via the Add or Remove Programs.

How was your version of office installed? There is a different procedure to patch office if it was installed from a admin install point.

You can also install the patch via the msiexec.exe command line.
