Have an issue with a T43 with all updates done, therefore this includes CSS at version 8.00.0311.00 and the fingerprint software at version 5.6.2.3650 on an XP SP2 OS.
Here goes...
Prior to the updates I had registered some digits for the fingerprint reader and they worked just fine, thought I was onto a good thing and started using the T43; joined the T43 to our company domain, installed windows updates and updated the IBM Access suite of programs (which I found out turned into ThinkVantage System Update). All was good, so I decided to ghost this good setup and installed a separate HD to accept this image. Imaging went fine so I removed the original HD and tried booting off the clone, no problems there.
Where the problems start are at the fingerprint scan, swiped one of my registered fingers and it gives me the green check to say it was read and accepted, but then I get a failed to login to the company domain error, thinking this was a password issue I manually supply the password and get the same error.
So I think its just a bad clone and put the original back in and try again, still no luck. This time through I try it with the network cable disconnected so I can use the cached password and low and behold it lets me in.
So now I'm thinking that the password stored in the security system is bad so I disable the windows login for the fingerprint software, selecting the normal windows login option instead of allowing the fingerprint to do it, but this too fails.
I have searched the forum but could not see any other posted similar to this, only the ones concerning repeated requests for other fingerprint scans after having had one accepted.
So my question is has anyone else who works in a domain environment seen this issue or is there any setting I have maybe missed that could possibly affect access to a domain system?
I did look at the BIOS and the settings for security do not call for a fingerprint scan at power on or for HD access.
Any insights would be appreciated.
Regards,
Andy.
Login issue caused by CSS8

Your problem is that the domain controller is locking out your client. Try logging in as a local administrator, unjoining the domain, rebooting, and then rejoining the domain. You should be able to log in on the domain account then.
BTW, this has nothing to do with CSS8. It probably has something to do with the way you are cloning the system...

Login issue caused by CSS8
Thanks for the tip, I was working on that when you replied, it was successful.
I'm not sure what ultimately caused this failure, but when I started out before the updates I was able to login just fine with the CSS program accepting my fingerprint (the old version from 2006 timeframe).
After all the updates I then swapped the HDD from the main bay to the ultrabay slim placed my new 100GB into the main bay and cloned the old drive. At this point I noticed that the new clone would not get a validated login unless the network cable was unplugged so I then reverted to the original again and it too had the same issue.
So in my mind the cloning just copied an existing problem and it was all the updates to CSS8 etc that had produced the login failure.
Anyway I will now go and clone this working copy onto my 100GB and chalk this up to experience.
