System update stops working after aim 6.5?

I can't explain it but it seems 6.5 of aim stops system update from working and you cannot fix it by removing 6.5 of aim. it corrupts something. i tested several times.
i had ghosted my system, tested su, then installed 6.5 and it kept failing (saying it had to keep restarting) into a look that had to kill the process. luckily i went back to the 'ghost' and all was ok. anyone else using aim 6.5 and have this issue?
