Page Flicker with IE7 and Flash Player

#1 Post by coreman » Mon Dec 10, 2007 12:08 am

I have used Search function but didn't find answer...

Under Win XP Pro:

IE7 flickers badly when loading Flash objects on a page...when I uninstall Flash Player, flicker goes away but I can't view pages needing Flash.

IE7 worked fine for a while but even IE6 flickers now with Flash Player. I also found old copy of Adobe 8 Flash and it causes flicker.

So I am now thinking it has something to do with video driver. Before I change to latest, I would appreciate comments back... this just happened recently and I think it was after one of my MS Updates Sessions.

Firefox does not flicker...I like to use both.

How much MB Ram you have in your machine?

You can try by increasing virtual memory for system drive. Or in other words increase paging file size from system properties for C:/ drive which is by default system drive.

Machine is T41 with 512 ram, paging file size is 760mb...so shouldn't be any issues here.

This just started happening after several months of problem free IE7. When I turn Flash off, everything reverts to normal.

I've found lots of references on internet but no actual solutions. I've uninstalled IE7, reverted to IE6, reinstalled IE7, installed Flashplayer 8 and then 9...all without success.

The only thing I can do to stop the flickering is turn off the Flash player inside IE7 (Manage Add-Ins).

Thanks for the suggestion though...any more??
