I don't fully understand!

#1 Post by Diehard » Sun Dec 16, 2007 6:11 am

I just bought 1GB Corsair to upgrade my Z61t which has original 1GB ProMOS

-----------------------
With 2GB (ProMOS at the bottom), I have Vista Performance Scores

memory : 4.4
graphics : 3.5
gaming graphics : 3.1
---------------------
With 2GB (Corsair at the bottom), I have

memory : 4.4
graphics : 4.2
gaming graphics : 3.1
-----------------------------

ONLY Corsair

memory : 4.5
graphics : 4.2
gaming graphics : 3.1

---------------
Only ProMOS

memory : 4.4
graphics : 3
gaming graphics : 2.4

----> ProMOS slows down my laptop?
2GB and Memory score is decreased?

Any Ideas?

What are the CAS latencies?

You should run the benchmark at least five times under each condition and take the average, because the results fluctuate a bit.
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

I don't think the Windows Experience Index is always accurate. For instance, I got the same score (4.4) after adding another 1Gb memory stick to my T43. However I can feel the performance difference in reality.

The two 1Gb sticks are identical, and Lenovo branded. I don't understand the CAS latency but they both say CL4 I think.

I agree, Windows Vista experience score seems pointless to me also, just concentrate on the fact that your machine is more happier with additional memory now.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

After running CPU-Z

DRAM Frequency 332.4MHz
FSB:DRAM 1:2
CAS# Latency (CL) 5.0 clocks
RAS# to CAS Delay(tRCD) 5 closks
RAS# Precharge (tRP) 5 clocks
Cycle Time (tRAS) 15 clocks
Bank Cycle Time (tRC) 21 clocks

The same results for Single ProMOS, single Corsair, and combined both.

I think Windows Experience Index is base on something, and the different result means what it bases on is different!
So what is it?
